For the built in fixture, a combination of stainless steel and PLEXIGLAS®, it is enough to clean the surface with a damp cloth and polish with a micro-fiber towel.

When a cleaning product must be used, please read the following rules: Prohibited are: cleaning concentrate, disinfections concentrate or thinner like acetone, nitro-thinner, Tri-thinner altogether, vinegar cleaner, spirits, alcohol, spot remover, glue, filler, silicon oil, abrasive cleaning products.

Only use cleaning products with a mild pH-balance between 6 and 8 or mild alkaline level cleaner. Cleaners that are not allowed are products with high levels of acid and chlorine. Before use of cleaning products in accordance with the directions recommended by the manufacturer.

Retail cleaning products can be used. We recommend for all stainless steel and aluminum surfaces as well as glass and plastic our stainless steel treatment spray “Brilliant”. The use on PLEXIGLAS® is not recommended because it can leave a shiny film.

Special materials for faceplates

It is basically correct that, based on the clear classification within the RAL register, all colours can be reproduced. However, as the paint manufacturers profit from a certain tolerance range to both directions of the colour scale, it can happen that each of these manufacturers uses this tolerance option to a maximum in opposite direction. The resulting colour differences are significant and clearly visible to the naked eye. Differences also occur when one part of a lift car is made from painted class, another part, however, is done by means of ceramic silk-screen printing or digital printing.

In order to avoid colour differences it is recommended to refrain from using a combination of the same colour shades that were manufactured in different procedures or come from different suppliers or from different batches. Colour tolerances with industrial painting are inevitable and are subject to factors beyond our control. Thus they form no basis for claims.

Further deviations can be found in batches of glass. “Usual float glass” has always a more or less distinct shade of green. Thus, two usual float glass panes from different batches have a different shade of green. Knowing this fact, SCHAEFER uses more expensive clear glass with no visible shades of green.

In everyday use, questions occur regarding handling of glass and risks of injury with breakage of glass. SCHAEFER uses tempered safety glass, glued to a steel support. Glass types used and defined on site may have qualities that are different from tempered glass.

Tempered glass is a glass which is put into a state of internal stress by re-heating it up to the transformation point and quick-cooling it afterwards (by means of an airstream). Thus, the core of a pane is under tensile load and the surface is under pressure load.

Glass is also vandalism-resistant. If, however, a breakage occurs, small bits of glass which are not harmful are the result. Glass endures a lot – but not everything. Hitting the corners can result in a breakage. If construction work is going on, protect the glass from aggressive dust. This can produce corrosion in the glass. Do not use any sharp and/or spiky objects for cleaning. Cleaning with washing-up liquid or glass cleaner and a soft cloth will do.

The production tolerances of glass are different from those of steel.

Measurement tolerance (length/width):
up to 1000 mm = ±1 mm
more than 1000 mm = ±2 mm

Positioning tolerance boreholes and cutouts:
up to 1000 mm = ±1 mm
more than 1000 mm = ±2 mm
